Vladimír Janák – VYMYSLI

Have a strong project?
I'll bring a strong solution.

30 years of experience in automotive and industrial design and engineering.

Want to actually enjoy development?

Expertise

Conceive. Give form.
Shape. Bring to life.

I specialize in developing strong concepts that deliver genuine user experience and aesthetic quality. And a surprise.

The conceptual part of design is where I'm strongest — getting the product's underlying logic right from the start. But what I conceive, I like to carry through to production — and to the end customer.

Today I run this work through my own studio, VYMYSLI.

I design with a firm focus on getting the product into production, or into another engineer's hands, without friction. I'm disciplined about communication and keeping a clear history, so misunderstandings don't creep in.

My main areas of work:

Interior architecture

Long-term collaboration with ŠKODA Auto. I design new, user-functional parts for future generations of vehicles, bringing patentable innovations.

Plastic parts engineering

Development of parts for automotive, sports, and consumer goods — from concept through to manufacturing optimization.

Development consultant

In this role, I act as a partner to the project owner, not a replacement for their team. I assess the project's current state and, where needed, guide the designer or engineer. I help find a path so development doesn't tangle into dead ends or run in circles. On several projects, my intervention saved clients many times its own cost — above all in time.

What to expect during our collaboration:

  • Development cost estimates
  • Timeline proposal
  • Elegant form and function solutions
  • An unexpected extra idea
  • Physical prototypes
  • Patent drafting
  • Feasibility and durability
  • Investment and unit-cost estimates
  • Production preparation
  • Support and fine-tuning

TOOL HACK: 3DEXPERIENCE / CATIA — I use these tools in a way most engineers can’t imagine. I create clean design and connect it directly to the final product. This significantly reduces tension between design, engineering and the project lead.

Process

It's not real without a prototype
Hence the workshop

It naturally starts with plenty of sketches and ideas. Then sorting out the thinking. Careful CAD modeling. But a physical mock-up says more than any presentation — whether it's just to judge the shape or to verify function. It saves hours of wondering whether a solution is right.

It's a faster, more direct path where we don't lose our way. It leads to the goal — and to confidence throughout development. It saves your money.

Work

Built.
Working.

I have dozens of different projects behind me. Some ended right where proof of concept is meant to end. Others made it all the way into production. Today they're on the road or in use, and I'm glad for that.

Škoda Auto — innovation
Still-confidential innovative interior assemblies for future generations of vehicles.
Škoda Karoq
Complete engineering for the upper glovebox supplier — from concept through kinematics and interior surface styling to prototype and series-production state.
Škoda Fabia III
Lead engineer for the dashboard, from initial concepts at the automaker through to series production at Magna Bohemia. Three years assisting the birth of a new model.
VW Beetle
Parts development for GD Components (Mexico); representing the company in negotiations at VW Wolfsburg and Italdesign Giugiaro in Turin.
Kia Venga
Lead engineer for door trim panels at Grupo Antolin. Communication across Korea, Spain, India, and the Czech Republic.
Happy End, a. s.
Design, visualization, concept, engineering, and manufacturing supervision of a new approach to safety in manufacturing, construction, and office environments.
Stedina
Consulting and technical review of design proposals across a range of projects. Engineering of plastic parts once the designer's work was complete.
Kuberg
Series-production engineering of all plastic parts for an electric motorcycle, turning the design into a manufacturable form, and concept proposals for new machines.

BASF · Fabini · Fready · ESI · DOT-Glasses · Hejduk Sport · Unico · Vinkler · TI Group · PAL · Avia…

I'm an inventor and co-author of several patents owned by Škoda Auto a.s., with further ones currently pending approval.
